Welcome to Rick Gustafson Photography.

Rick Gustafson has returned to his passion for Photography and Art to find the Digital Revolution is changing the way we think about photography. Rick, like many empty nesters, has returned to the passions he once enjoyed, such as motorcycles and photography. Some people might say he was going through a mid-life crises, but Rick claims it is mid-life opportunities. In 2006 Rick purchased his first Digital SLR camera and began wildly taking photographs of the beauty in and around the California North Coast Area. Rick soon found that in low light he could capture and create colorful abstractions of natural surroundings using in camera blur techniques. The use of these techniques creates photographs that appear as painterly impressions and is some circles is referred to as Impressionist photography. Although the Digital Dark room is used to enhance the color of these bluristic impressions, it is the in-camera field techniques which creates these images.

Rick’s passion is not entirely on his Impressionist work, he also enjoys capturing traditional Fine Art landscapes and seascapes along with an occasional flower.
